Sam is fascinated with ALL things "tool". He can put the drill bit IN A DRILL, screw it in tight, unlock the safety and drill. (And that my friends is why the drill, the bits, and the batteries are all kept in seperate places in our basement) He loves hammers, wrenchs (specifically adjustable!!) screwdrivers, nails, screws, saws, measuring tapes and more. If he sees a tool he wants it in his hands and he starts pounding, turning, twisting, whatever to make it work. We didn't 'teach' him to like these things ~ he just has fallen in love with tools.
Today I laid him down at 11:30 because he was tired and cranky. At 12:40 he was STILL awake!!!! So when I took Emma up to lay down I went in his room. And why was this boy STILL AWAKE?????
Because he had found that his crib is held together with various screws!!! There was one in the corner that was of particular fascination to him. He was on his knees, with his finger on it and twisting just like he would a screw driver (should he have one in his possesion at that moment...which he did not thankfully!!!). He got a BIG smile on his face and said "EH....EH" Yep buddy that's a screw. Now LAY DOWN and go to SLEEP!!! I laid him BACK down, pulled down the second set of blinds in his room in hopes that it would make it dark enough that he couldn't see.
And why will I not let him have 'real' tools. Yeah he'd take his crib apart!!!
